Caitlin Conyers has secured Bermuda a spot at the Pan Am Games in Lima, Peru, next summer.

Conyers came second in the Elite Caribbean Cycling Championships road race in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, today to earn the island a place at the multi-sport event.

She also won bronze in the time-trial yesterday in her first international race, completing the 20-kilometre distance in 30min 13sec.

Conor White also won a medal for Bermuda after finishing second in the under-23 time-trial yesterday. He finished the 30km course in 40:40.

White, making his debut at the under-23 level, placed 33rd in the road race today, while Dominique Mayho came seventh to secure his best finish at the championships. Mayho led the peloton out of the final turn with 500 metres to the finish line.

Gabriella Arnold was the only rider in the women’s under-23 road race, taking the title four years after winning the junior race in the same city.

Next year’s championships will be held in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.
