Police made seven arrests on Friday night as part of the third round of roadside breath test checkpoints.

A total of three people were arrested after they failed tests and a fourth was arrested for refusal to take a breath test.

A further three people were arrested on outstanding warrants.

On Saturday night into the early hours of Sunday, the sobriety checkpoints did not result in any arrests for impaired driving.

However, an off-duty police officer reported an erratic driver outside of the check area and one person was arrested.

They were taken to Hamilton Police Station where they failed the alco-analyser test.

Breath test checkpoints were to continue last night in Paget, Pembroke and Devonshire.

A police spokesman said: “Members of the public are urged not to drive under the influence.

“The Bermuda Police Service thanks the motoring public for their patience and co-operation while the road sobriety checkpoints are in operation.”
